Fatel Accident on Modena Road in South Coatesville Borough

On Friday Morning December 19th 2014 the Modena Fire Company was dispatched at 0505 to a reported accident with entrapment on Modena Road north of Union Street in Modena Borough.

Chief Dowlin was first to arrive on scene at 0509 reporting one vehicle over turned just north of the Borough line in South Coatesville Borough, confirming 2 trapped, establishing Modena Road Command. Ambulance 37-2 arrived on scene and started to gain access to the patients, Modena command was advised that a third patient from the crash was spotted walking up Modena Road in the area of Cambria Ave, Ambulance 44 was assigned to that patient.

Rescue 44 and Engine 37-1 arrived on scene crew worked together to extricate one patient from the vehicle. Unfortunately the second patient was overcome by their injuries and was pronounced dead on scene, the Chester County Corners office was dispatched to the scene. The patient extricated from the vehicle and the walking wounded from the crash was both taken to a local trauma center.

Fire Police from Modena and Westwood were called to close Modena Road between Union Street and Over Hill Road.

All Fire and EMS cleared the scene around 0800, however the road remained closed to all traffic during the police investigation until 1300 hours at which time the fire police cleared the scene.
