Crews take Night off for Annual Awards Banquet

On Saturday May 5 2018 the members, distinguished guest, family, and friends of the Modena Fire Company gathered at Volunteers Hall in Wagontown for the 2017 awards banquet.

The evening started out with a social hour before enjoying a fine dinner provided by ESP Catering.

Following dinner it was time for members to be recognized for their hard work in 2017. First up EMS Chief Douglas Dowlin who presented the 100 club members on the EMS side and EMS person of the year, this year recipient was Justin Carro. Followed by giving all employees in attendance a gift.

Chief Dowlin was next up presenting a new award to the Paid EMS person of the year, this award was new and will be in memory of the late Robert Ashby one of our employees who passed in 2017, The first award recipient is Staph Klingler, Bob’s wife Deb came up to congratulate Steph and thank the company for honoring Bob.

Next up was President Bryant who presented the 2017 Presidents award which is in honor of the late Leon Pluck, this year’s recipient was Billy Lewis.

Next up Chief Dowlin handed out the 100 club on the fire side and Firefighter of the year, this year's recipient was Andrae “Shorty” Reason, Andrae was also awarded a citation (at no cost this time) by Deputy Director of Emergency Services Beau Crowding on behalf of the county commissioners who unable to make it. Then Chief Dowlin handed out a Chief’s Award to a member that showed leadership, dedication, and honor to the company, this year recipient was Clayton Hubler.
Finally the entire active crew was called to the front and received a new job shirt and thanked for all their hard work by Chief Dowlin.

Following the awards it was time to let loose and enjoy the evening with fellowship and dancing. The company remained out of service until midnight allowing our members to enjoy their time off.

The officers and members of the company would like to thank the Honey Brook Fire Company for covering our station throughout the evening.
