January 20, 2020

On Monday afternoon at 1:30pm the Modena Fire Company was dispatched to the area of 2140 Upper Gap Rd in South Coatesville for the auto accident. As Ambulance 37-1 went enroute they were advised by the county that the call was being upgraded to with entrapment.

Engine 37-1 made the response and arrived on scene with EMS and confirmed they had two vehicles involved and had two subjects trapped in one of the vehicles. Rescue 44 (Westwood) and numerous EMS units were dispatched as well to assist. Engine 37-1's crew began working on the extrication by removing both passenger side doors and prepping to remove the roof. Rescue 44's crew arrived and assisted with the extrication. Crews removed all four doors and the roof to allow EMS access to both patients.

The two trapped parties were extricated in 24 and 28 minutes from the time of dispatch.

EMS units from Modena, Westwood and Downingtown were on scene as well as two Medic units from Medic 93 (Brandywine Hospital)

Fire Police were also on scene from Modena, Westwood, Thorndale and Coatesville. At the time of this posting the roadway is still closed due to the accident investigation being handled by the PA State Police.
