By Deputy Chief Christopher Corle Jr.
December 13, 2023

On December 13th at 1811, The Modena Fire Company along with multiple other mutual aid were dispatched to a reported dwelling fire at 5 Richard Wilson Drive in West Marlborough.

Multiple unit on the assignment hit the street on dispatch, Battalion 37 was advised on one car into the house with one inside unresponsive. Battalion 37 then added the rescue taskforce for possible structural collapse.

Deputy 44 then arrived on scene and reported a split level single family structure with a car in side still running, believed to have a active fire in the basement. Chief 37 arrived assuming Richard Wilson Command passing operations to Deputy 44, Deputy 44 along with a couple state troopers then entered the garage area in attempting to find victim. After a couple minute Deputy44 drug the patient outside and turned over to EMS.

Rescue 36 arrived taking first due engine and Ladder 22 arrived taking first due special, after some investigation it was determined that there was no actual fire in the structure, all the smoke was from the tires of the car doing a burn out when the occupant was unresponsive and had foot on gas pedal the whole time.

At that point the incident was scaled down to Rescue 36, Ladder 22 and 37 units. Engine 33-5 was redirected to standby at 37.

Positive pressure ventilation was done, car was removed from structure, and utilities were secured, and home turned over to tenants..

All 37 units cleared the scene at 2006.
