Crews took tonight off of training to meet with Fire Police Lieutenant Art Campbell and his wife for an evening of thanks. Joining us this evening, were are colleagues from the Westwood Fire Company involved in Art’s incident.
As you may recall back on April 7, Art suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at his home in East Fallowfield Township, since then, he’s made a full recovery with no neurological deficits and he has returned back to work..
Although we’ve been recognized for this CPR, save by the townships, etc., the crews involved haven’t had a chance to sit with Art and his wife directly, this has been something they been waiting to do.
Evening started with a little meal provided by the company. Following dinner President Dowlin recap the incident by reading a timeline laying out everything from shocks, Meds pushed and significant other milestones throughout the 58 minute on scene time and 1 hour and 24 minutes from dispatch to transfer of care.
After the reading of the timeline, the president read off the names of the 15 providers on scene that day and passed off the certificates and pins to Art and his wife to present to each individual.
After presenting the pins to the Crews President Dowlin presented Art’s wife Kim a CPR Save Pin For her CPR efforts for five minutes prior to first responder's arrival, single-handedly started the chain of survival.
After some photo ops , Art and his wife took some time to address the group with a very emotional thank you.
The rest of the evening was just spent enjoying each other’s company and have some cake which was provided by Art and his wife, the evening came to a end when the company was alerted for a gas leak. |
