Every year right before Christmas the company holds it’s an annual Christmas dinner and award ceremony for its members who sacrificed so much time and commitment over the past year.
Members and their families started to gather around 1700 for a little social hour, dinner was served buffet style at 1800, around 19:00 President Dowlin start the award ceremony by thanking our guest from Neighboring companies and our municipalities for their support over the past year. He then speak to some of the challenges they had this year with have a new chief after 22yrs and great job he’s done, and the continued challenges with certain municipalities over funding.
He then spoke to all the accomplishments we achieve this year with breaking records in call volume doing over 440 Fire calls and 1250 EMS calls this was the first time in company history with those kind of numbers. He spoke about adding the fire staffing during the day and thanking East Fallowfield Township for making that happen. He then spoke about the exciting year ahead with tanker 37 nearing completion at Midwest, the committee is scheduled to go out late January for final inspection. He then finished up with speaking about the future of the fire service and the need to add more Paid Staff due to the lack of volunteers, but the need to continue to retain the volunteers that we have stating that the keywords for 2025 are positivity and professionalism.
It was then time to hand out some awards starting with the EMS awards handed out by our EMS Supervisor , Luann Thomas who then passed it off to Fire Chief Chris Corle who handed out the Fire awards for 2024, followed by President Dowlin speaking about a few special awards that would be handed out to people that could not make it this evening. The president then handed out his president award for 2024, finally the active crew all gathered upfront to present and engraved Axe to Fire Chief Chris Corle in thanks for his leadership in his first year as Chief and breaking the company record for call value. That concluded the award ceremony, the evening continued on with fellowship and camaraderie late into the night.
